TURF STRESS

The Challenge

Turfgrass is continuously subjected to environmental oxidative stress.

The Science

All turf deals with a variety of stresses caused by its surrounding environment. Environmental Oxidative Stress is the stress associated with plant metabolism and plant growth. Turf must constantly adapt to the growing condition of the environment. The stress caused by that environment reduces the quality of turfgrass. As stress occurs, oxygen free radicals accumulate in plant tissue, and if the plant is unable to combat the oxygen free radicals, premature cell degradation occurs.

Turf has natural mechanisms to counteract stress. The relative ability of plants to maintain optimum growing conditions is strongly influenced by factors such as quality of the root system, irrigation efficiency, soil health, nutrient balance, weather, and the quality of integrated pest management practices.

The redox Solution

Minimize turf stress by addressing basic management and agronomic practices. Redox has four tools that may be beneficial for reducing turf stress when integrated into a comprehensive management program: TurfRx Si, TurfRx K+ Micro Crystal, TurfRx NatureCur, and TurfRx OxyCal.

TurfRx Si

A reacted plant nutrient product high in calcium and silicon. TurfRx Si strengthens cell walls and reduces oxidative stress. Turf that grows and develops with stronger cell walls is naturally less susceptible to drought environmental oxidative stress. Apply 0.25 - 1 gallon per acre (0.75 - 3 oz./1000 ft2) via a foliar application during periods of cell development every 1 - 4 weeks or as required.

TurfRx K+ Micro Crystal

A reacted plant nutrient product high in potassium and phosphorus. TurfRx K+ Micro Crystal is unique in its ability to promote the production of phenolic compounds. Phenolic compounds are specific types of antioxidants. Use of TurfRx K+ Micro Crystal is particularly beneficial under conditions of environmental oxidative stress. Apply 0.5 - 4 pounds per acre (0.2 - 1.5 oz./1000 ft2) via foliar or fertigation application every 1 - 4 weeks or as required during periods of stress.

TurfRx NatureCur

A reacted nutrient product containing proprietary botanical extracts. TurfRx NatureCur stimulates the production of a broad range of antioxidants in plants. Use of TurfRx NatureCur is particularly beneficial for improving the quality of root systems under environmental oxidative stress as well as improving the function of the plant vascular system. Apply 0.25 - 1 gallon per acre (0.75 - 3 oz./1000 ft2) to the soil every 4 - 8 weeks or as required.

TurfRx OxyCal

A reacted plant nutrient product containing calcium, potassium, phosphorus, oxygen, and proprietary carbon compounds. TurfRx OxyCal stimulates the production of a broad range of antioxidant compounds in plants. Increased antioxidant production is particularly beneficial for reduction of biotic stress. Apply 1 - 8 pounds per acre (0.75 - 3 oz./1000 ft2) as a foliar as required during periods of stress.
